I’ll admit it: I wasn’t prepared for how hard Max Cloud made me laugh. I walked in expecting a dorky kids-level adventure movie, and instead I got a solid piece of video game criticism where Scott Adkins goes full Gareth Evans on space ninjas and acts like a macho asshole for most of the running time.
Max Cloud is fun times! It’s actually quite sweet, empathetic, and hilarious while boasting some sharply choreographed action scenes; I appreciate the 80s nostalgia as window dressing instead of the primary focus, too.
