“If You Liked ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ You Need To Watch Michelle Yeoh’s Other Movies”

Ol’ lightning post here forgot to share this piece ahead of Michelle Yeoh’s inevitable Oscar win, and then forgot to share it again afterward. Better late than never? Maybe?

I am weirded out by the narrative that crystallized around awards season and Yeoh and the strange sense that without Everything Everywhere All At Once, she was some kind of struggling nobody instead of one of martial arts cinema’s living legends. I realize that there is room for nuance here. I found that room and gave it about 1k words of wisdom and incisive critique. That’s the job.
