Some movies should be TV shows. Some TV shows should be movies. Is That Black Enough For You!?! is the rare documentary movie that, guided by a lesser mind, might have been reshaped as a miniseries, but given Elvis Mitchell’s focus on Black cinema, it is only appropriate that he fit his thesis into a movie outline. What a success. This is an absolutely arresting doc, and I can’t picture it in any other form or medium than the movies themselves.
Is That Black Enough For You!?! straddles the line between journalism and intellectual argument, where everything Mitchell says and proposes is backed up by facts – because he’s reporting – but he uses those facts to make a strong, sobering point about the subtle ways whiteness in the movies has benefitted from Black contributions to the art. Just brilliant work all around.

I would definitely like to watch this!
It’s VERY good, and if I ever made a documentary about a subject in cinema, I’d want it to have the same level of rigor as this.
