I don’t believe in the “so bad it’s good” movie or the “guilty pleasure” movie; if a thing is “so bad” that it circles back to “good,” then logically that implies it is, in fact, good, and you should also never feel guilty about liking a movie. If you like it, there’s a reason why, and even if it isn’t a profound reason, it’s still valid.
All the same, bad movies happen every hour of every day, and if you can’t appreciate them, then it’s as Pauline Kael said: You have very little reason to watch them. Besides, Netflix is a breeding ground of and repository for bad movies, so I might as well give you the tools you need to find a few worth watching.
