“‘Strawberry Mansion’ Review: The Best Sci-Fi Love Story Since ‘Eternal Sunshine'”

I don’t always write my own headlines, and when I do, I usually say: Take it well-salted. A headline is supposed to be a little clicky. In this case, though, I think I agree, but it’s been so long since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind that I can’t say for sure. Still: It’s a reasonable guess. I won’t fight it.

Because Strawberry Mansion rules. I love good old fashioned ingenuity and handcrafted filmmaking; there’s something special about that that speaks more to the soul of what movies can be than glossier productions. (I think I said something about this just the other day, in fact!) Strawberry Mansion is such a movie. I’m glad I got the chance to revisit it a year after seeing it at Sundance ’21, and now that it’s on VOD, I hope you take that chance, too.
