Can you believe that I reviewed The Grey 10 years ago? I was still in my 20s. I wasn’t getting paid for my writing. I was really bad at this. What a trip.
10 years is enough time to stop and take stock of how Liam Neeson’s old man action guy stint has gone for him; based on Blacklight, his latest, I’d say “not great,” because once upon a time he was making movies like The Grey and now he’s making…y’know. Blacklight.
But The Grey holds up and deserves some good old fashioned reconsideration. So I did that for Paste Magazine.
