“Take a Trip to ‘The Alien Coast’ with St. Paul & The Broken Bones”

A funny thing happened when I opened up WordPress to share this post: I realized that I can’t remember a single song from this record. Take that simply as a matter of fact and not a burn on the record. My brain is a sieve. But of the records I’ve listened to and covered this year, The Alien Coast is one of the most pleasurable to listen to and most easily forgotten.

I’ll put forward the idea that maybe The Alien Coast is “easily” forgotten because it’s so closely tied to this historically grim moment we’re in, right from the opening track. Maybe I just want to forget about it. But I’ll tell you what, I’ll still recommend giving it a listen all the same. That’s me! That’s what I do.
