I have a few niches of my own, but the most prevalent of 2021 is “Welshness.”
Am I collecting Welsh filmmakers? Maybe. I guess. It’s hard not to feel attachment to people who come from or premiere their movies in the same small coastal town you visit every couple of years for family reasons. In this case: The movie is The Feast and the person is director Lee Haven Jones, who screened the movie at the Abertoir horror festival, a thing I did not know existed until now and which I am committed to one day attend.
We spoke about Welshness. Of course. Because The Feast is Welsh in its bones and in its language. You can read the full conversation over at Fangoria.
