“‘Midnight Mass’: Mike Flanagan Stumbles Trying To Mix Horror With A Message In His Latest Netflix Fright”

I think my original title suggestion for this piece made some comment or another about Midnight Mass having too much weight. It was a clunky header. Still, the sentiment applies. It’s hard to write off anything Mike Flanagan does; frustrating as I’ve found his output at this stage of his career, the guy is talented, and he does make good movies. I just think that that Netflix money has maybe not done him a service as far as honing his style.

Regardless, if you want somethin’ spooky, and of course you do, there are worse things you could watch than this, and you’re in luck: It’s available on the ol’ Netflix now.
