Man, that LaKeith Stanfield.
I’m none too fond of animated productions hiring screen actors over voice actors, for the most part, because they’re totally different disciplines. But – but – there are actors who can do both things, who can articulate a character on screen or through a microphone, and LaKeith Stanfield is clearly one of them. I mention this in my review, but in Yasuke, he’s able to create a full, expressive character with his vocals alone, which takes a lot of skill and which we don’t generally recognize voice actors for doing.
You can read my full review for The Playlist, because the rest of the show is great, too.
