I admire and adore Justin Simien and his wonderful body of work, so I’m admitting up front that I really wanted to like his horror movie Bad Hair. I won’t say I totally disliked it. I will say that I wish I’d read some of the excellent criticism of the film put out there by Black critics, because so much of it went over my head, or maybe sideways. Suffice to say this is the rare moment where I feel like I was unqualified to review The Thing that I reviewed.
