I’ve struck out twice this year watching Ryan Murphy’s junk, once with Hollywood, then again with The Politician (which I think I struck out even harder on). So I guess you can take my lukewarm-to-positive take on Ratched, that prequel series to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), well-salted. I’m not sure if I like it because the De Palma vibes are low-hanging fruit for me, or if it’s actually bearable compared to the other two.
Again, as noted in the piece: This show would vastly improve, I suspect, sans the preexisting IP connection. Ratched did not need to be a prequel to Cuckoo’s. But nothing is its own thing anymore*, so this is where we’re at.
