One weird invention of the COVID-19 outbreak: Zoom interviews. Zoom interviews are cruel. They mash together two things I am comfy with–in person interviews and phone interviews–into something that will likely always make me fall out of my chair. Such was the case when I spoke with Natalie Erika James about her new movie, Relic, though unlike my chat with Josephine Decker last month, I at least expected her to show up on camera.
Anyways. Natalie has talent, and she’s thoughtful, and we got to talk about special effects, which I will never ever not be excited about, and I’m happy to share the piece, even if it is about the more depressing aspects of mortality
