Back in May, I had a nice chat with Nisha Ganatra, director of The High Note, about the way the movie tackles racism*; we also talked about balancing comedy against social and moral imperatives. (Also: Apparently Paul Feig nearly directed this movie, and I can only imagine it would’ve not been very good at all if he had!)
