“Americans Are What They Eat in ‘Dinner in America'”

This is what we call “striking while the iron’s hot,” kids, because upfront, I don’t have many opportunities to do that.

So, even though I’m not at Sundance, and didn’t go to Sundance, I still got the chance to review this here movie out of Sundance. And I dug it! It’s kinda like Repo Man and Napoleon Dynamite and Ghost World and SLC Punk, but served at the table of a basic Midwestern American family household, and also I bet Kyle Gallner pulled a Minoru Matsumoto* and made himself throw up before every take, because the guy looks like hell (in a good way) throughout the whole picture.

You can read my full review over at Paste Magazine.

*If I have my lore down right, Minoru Matsumoto is the actor who played the crazy hyped-up Yakuza character in Ryuhei Kitamura’s Versus. He is, in a word, intense.
