“Little Joe Could Use Pruning, But Chills Anyway”

If you read that excerpt and clicked anyways, good news: I actually have no gardening puns left.

Little Joe, as you might gather from reading my review, is an odd one to evaluate. Certainly it works, but it’s loose; there are holes in the filmmaking so wide that if you could feel a breeze blow through a movie, you would feel a breeze blow through this one. At the same time I really respect what Jessica Hausner is trying to do, or really what she does do, here in terms of making these low key anti-capitalist remarks and couching them in filmmaking this chilly and off-kilter
