George Miller said of Mad Max: Fury Road that he shot the film in such fashion that an audience in Japan would get as much out of it as an audience in America. I think Gruff Rhys could say the same about his new album, Pang!, a Welsh language joint that makes sense no matter your native tongue; even if you can’t make sense of it, it still rocks pretty hard. So there’s that. The record’s range of styles, and I don’t really get into this in my review, is impressive, too, giving it a world-music sort of sound that still winds its way back around to Wales.
