“Films by Women: Five Movies to Watch from August (2019)”

Look: At least this article dropped closer to August than now. But at least I’m sharing it! Right? That counts for something.

August was, for my money, a pretty good month for women behind the camera, though I’ll cop to feeling a bit like I’m cheating here; I reviewed The Nightingale in full, for instance, and also The Souvenir (which came out in theaters back in May). But Vita & Virginia and Tigers Are Not Afraid are fresh, original works, and then I guess there’s cross-pollination with my An Angel at My Table blurb. It can’t be avoided.

I digress. You can read the full piece over at Paste Magazine
