“‘Robin Hood’ And Making A War Movie Out Of A Folk Hero”

Look, I really can’t explain Robin Hood to you, even in two frigging articles; it’s an inexplicable movie. On the one hand, he’s Batman for whatever dumb reason. On the other hand he’s Chris Kyle. I don’t get it. It’s fine to try and update classic characters of yore like this guy, but I’m not sure the world ever needed a new Robin Hood movie period, much less a Robin Hood movie that takes the laziest path possible to update the leader of the Merry Men slash the Prince of Thieves slash the dude who steals from the rich and gives to the poor; everything about the movie’s adaptation is just forced and fake, and that’s at best. At worst it’s an Iraq War movie. Don’t look at me, I’m just a critic.

You can read my full (and second) take down over at The Hollywood Reporter.
