It’s June. “Best Of (So Far)” list time.
About a third of the blurbs on Paste Magazine‘s June ’18 list have my name on them, and of those that don’t, there are a handful I don’t agree with: I think Avengers: Infinity War is an exhausting slog, How to Talk to Girls at Parties is garbage, and Hereditary is one of the most spectacularly misguided horror movies of the horror new wave. (More on that in another piece later.) Be that as it may, this is obviously a great list to start with if you’re trying to figure out how to catch up on movies this year.
I plan on elaborating on this in a separate post toward month’s end, but man, I’m having a really hard time picking ten movies for myself this year. If I’m being honest, it’s been a pretty mild release slate so far, with only a few standouts holding things steady. Granted, the best movies are really, really good, but, well, I’ve already said to much. Meantime, get thee to Paste.
