The Playlist’s Best Movies Of 2017

I’m not in the habit of bagging on the people I write for, and I don’t mean to do so here. That said, I wrote about Phantom Thread for The Playlist’s year-end best-of list, and of course I think it deserves to be higher than #18. At the very least it shouldn’t come before The Big Sick, which I take as something of an insult (even though I mostly liked The Big Sick). This is what happens when movies don’t screen for critics before critics start compiling best-of lists. Pay attention, studios.

Anyways: The rest of the list is solid (though fuck Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (and also The Killing of a Sacred Deer)). The real takeaway here, of course, is that Phantom Thread is really fucking good, in case you didn’t already know that.
