Here’s a formula for a great podcast: You pick one overrated movie and one underrated movie, both connected either tightly or loosely through themes or styles or genres or whatnot, talk about them in a head-to-head comparison, and then sprinkle a little Crump on top. That’s right, I’m on the most recent episode of The Playlist’s Over/Under Podcast, hosted by Oktay Ege Kozak and Ryan Oliver, yakkin’ about The Matrix, a film that I do not think has aged well (though I do not necessarily think that this is a bad thing) and whose contributions to pop culture have been distilled to superficiality, and The World’s End, which might be the best film in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy, even though people still love their Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead (and rightly so).
That’s me, throwin’ grenades. You should go listen to me. (And also Oktay and Ryan. They’re pretty superlative dudes. Listen to the podcast even when I’m not on it, too, by clickin’ it here to the iTunes.)
