The best part of “The Night Shift,” last week’s episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, is that its crossover with New Girl didn’t totally sink it. It barely made a dent in it, in fact, but that’s because the crossover is minimal. (There’s more crossover in New Girl itself than in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, in point of fact.) But I still hated it, because I don’t understand what the crossover accomplishes besides mollifying whatever cultural need we (or rather, I suspect, entertainment conglomerates) have to see properties bump into each other on the big and small screen.
Whatever. Good episode. Don’t ever do that “crossover” thing again, though. For more details, check out that review thing I did for Paste Magazine.
