Review: White Girl, 2016, dir. Elizabeth Wood

Elizabeth Wood’s White Girl is not a movie for the prude or the faint of heart. You can tell that by looking at its poster, which features the white girl of the title having sex with her drug dealing boyfriend. (Spoiler alert!) There’s more where that came from (zing!), though, lots more, and much of it is worse than consensual, passionate lovemaking between two adults. You might want to laugh at White Girl, but only because it’s bound to make you either furious or disconsolate; it’s a raw, rough movie, and it’s totally great. (What a year for debuts! This is a first film? Damn, what am I doing with my life?) Get thee to The Playlist for the full rundown on this one.
